Nadal’s Red Dirt Dominance Approaching Borgian Status

Rafael Nadal beat Roger Federer 7-5, 7-5, in Monte Carlo on Sunday, his 98th win in his last 99 matches on clay. With his fourth win in a row at Monte Carlo, Nadal tied Anthony Wilding, “the motorcycle-riding New Zealander who was killed in the trenches in the First World War,” writes Tom Tebbut in the Toronto Globe & Mail.

The great Bjorn Borg, winner of six French Opens, had a career record of 245-39 on clay.  Nadal’s career record on clay stands at 138-13. And he’s only 21.
