Reynolds Rises; Isner, Odesnik & Young Drop; Blake & Roddick Tread Water
The two American men in the top of the ATP world ladder, No. 6 Andy Roddick and No. 8 James Blake, did not change in rankings released after Wimbledon, although there were major moves farther down. The biggest increase was by Bobby Reynolds whose third-round performance at Wimbledon pushed him up 11 spots to No. 95, a comfortable position for him going into the hardcourt season (last year he had to play the qualies at the U.S. Open). On the downside, John Isner and Wayne Odesnik both fell a precipitous 11 spots, to land at numbers 93 and 98 respectively; Donald Young dropped eight to 94. The only other two Americans in the top fifty, Mardy Fish at 41 and Sam Querrey at 44 each dropped two spots. The biggest moves beyond the top 100 were all to the upside: Rajeev Ram rose an enormous 72 rungs to 186; Scoville Jenkins rose 26 spots to 198; and Wimbledon qualifier Jesse Levine rose 13 slots to 124.
