Fish Starts Strong But Nadal Finishes Stronger
Mardy Fish played a brilliant first set in the match against World No. 1 Rafael Nadal that started only half an hour before midnight Wednesday, winning it 6-3, but that was the end of his road. Nadal dominated in the final three sets, winning those 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 to move into the semifinals. As Lynn Zinser wrote in The New York Times, “By the end, Fish had little answer for a man who seemed to get stronger as the night grew longer.”
