Roddick Comes to Doubles Too Late; Nadal Rolls
Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish won the doubles title in Indian Wells today. If perhaps Roddick had played doubles all along, he might volley better, return better, and would have had a better singles career, and ultimately possess a craftier game to carry him into his thirties as his shoulder gets weaker and tired. Perhaps. But I’m confident John McEnroe would agree with me.
Oh yeah, in singles, Nadal drilled Andy Murray like a bad tooth. Murray, of course, beat Federer for the fourth time in a row yesterday. Is this the year the Spaniard takes the Grand Slam, the first one in 40 years? I say yes. More on that soon.
