Soderling Says No Grand Slam This Year, Rafa
Tennis Channel announcer Justin Gimelstob during Robin Soderling’s match against David Ferrer on Friday said two things about the Swede: “No one has ever mistaken Soderling for a brain surgeon” and “Stick a fork in him, he’s done.”
The rule of this is never trust Gimelstob’s mindless, glib analysis (check out his ATP career record of 107-173 or high ranking of 63). Soderling won the match in a fourth set tiebreaker against Ferrer and then went on to shock Nadal in four sets on Sunday.
There will be no Grand Slam this year, leaving Rod Laver and Don Budge in a very exlusive club.
