You Need More than a Serve to Win, Dr. Ivo — 78 Aces and a Davis Cup Loss
Davis Cup is underway this weekend sans the U.S. team, but the most outrageous statistic in the history of tennis happened today: Croatian Ivo Karlovic hit an all-time record for aces, drilling 78 against the Czech Republic’s Radek Stepanek. He broke the world record by 23 aces, and the Davis Cup record by 31, BUT HE STILL LOST THE MATCH, 16-14 in the fifth.
