Americans in Australia: Isner seeded; Donald Young Qualifies, Joins 11 in Main Draw
Donald Young is the only American man to win his way into the tourney through the qualies — Ryan Sweeting just missed, losing 9-7 in a deciding set.
Young joins the 10 Americans in the top 100 — Roddick (7), Isner (28), Querrey (29), Blake (45), Fish (54), Taylor Dent (79), Rajeev Ram (84), Wayne Odesnik (89), Michael Russell (90), Robby Ginepri (99) — and 17-year-old wild card Ryan Harrison, ranked 341.
Isner is the 32nd seed — he was ranked 33rd when the draw was set, but moved into a seed’s draw when Gilles Simon pulled out with an injury.
