With a courageous loss by Amer Delic and a disappointing showing by Mardy Fish, only Andy Roddick and James Blake remain of the American men in conention in the Australian Open.

Roddick sapped the magic from Fabrice Santoro, trouncing the Frenchman in straight sets to earn a spot in the final sixteen; James Blake goes tonight/tomorrow against Igor Andreev to join Roddick in the fourth round. Next up for Roddick on Saturday is Tommy Robredo. Roddick is on a path to meet Djokovic in the quarters, while Blake could see Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the fourth round and Andy Murray in the last eight.

Delic played a great match against No. 3 seed Djokovic, almost pushing it to five sets. It was the sixth match Delic played in Australia, counting three in the qualies, the last one of which he lost but got into the tournament on a lucky loser draw. Fish, seeded No. 23, lost to unseeded but ever dangerous Marcos Baghdatis, 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.

Both del Potro and Simon passed Ferrer with semifinal results in Basel and Lyon, respectively.

Other players within reach are: No. 10 James Blake (310), No. 11 Stanislas Wawrinka (301), No. 12 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (290), No. 14/last year’s champion David Nalbandian (275), No. 15 Fernando Verdasco (268), No. 16 Gael Monfils (264) and No. 17 Robin Soderling (258).
