This year thus far has been the breakout year for John Isner – winning his first ATP title, reaching the round of 16 in Australia, and making a heroic Davis Cup debut this weekend in which he played all three days, including a great effort as a last-minute sub in the doubles and a valiant five-set [...]
Bob Bryan and John Isner, subsituting for an ill Mike Bryan, fought back in the first and third set tiebreakers to win in four sets in the Davis Cub doubles against Serbia on Saturday. A brilliant win, especially for Isner in his Davis Cup debut, a weekend in which he did not plan to play doubles. Tomorrow [...]

A new era for American Davis Cup has begun, and it will be up to John Isner and Sam Querrey to step up and fill the shoes of long-time Davis Cuppers Andy Roddick and James Blake who are sitting out the competition this year. The tall twosome — Isner is 6′9″ an Querey 6′6″ — have a [...]
During a U.S. Open press conference last September, Andy Roddick ridiculed Novak Djokovic’s numerous calls to the trainer, suggesting that maybe he had SARS or the bird flu, but then he lost to the Serb in the quartefinals. In his press conference Tuesday, Andy Roddick had some fun with questions about alleged injuries to Novak Djokovic, his quarterfinal opponent, a regular patient of ATP trainers. From the U.S. Open transcript:
Q. When asked about his injuries today, mentioning the right ankle as opposed to the left ankle, the other day ‑‑
ANDY RODDICK: Isn’t [...]
Andy Roddick rolled through Fernando Gonzalez in only 87 minutes Tuesday night to join his friend Mardy Fish in the quarterfinals. This is already the best showing for American players in Grand Slams this year.
Fish plays the world’s new No. 1, Rafael Nadal tonight, and Roddick will play No. 3 Novak Djokovic tomorrow. [...]
When I first heard earlier in the year that Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish were passing on playing in the Olympics, I was shocked that they would skip out on another chance to participate in the games. But after considering the crowded ATP schedule consisting of four Grand Slams, nine Masters tournaments and the [...]
